Wonderfully Made!

Psalm 139  A psalm of David.

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—

How can we read these words and not be overwhelmed by the love of God?  As I finished reading, the question that came to my mind was, “Lord, what do you want us to know about the words written here about us in this Psalm?”  And I heard, “That my children would know, that they know, that they know how wide and deep and high is my love for them.  That my children would know in their hearts how wonderful, really wonderful they are to Me.  Every life valuable to Me, every life precious!”

Today, let’s meditate on these words.  Do we believe we are precious?  Do we believe we are fearfully and wonderfully made?  I feel like we need to read and re-read this Psalm until the words plant deep down in our hearts so we know.  How much more would we do with our lives?  How many more people would we be able to so easily love if we really knew and believed this about ourselves?  What are you going to do today with this knowledge?
